Here’s Your Sign

“It really hurts when I do this,” a patient says as they twist their foot into some strange position that no one ever does

“Here’s your sign,” I want to say.  The sign would read, “Don’t DO that!”

I picked up a “Times” special edition magazine at the store the other day.  The picture on the front caught my eye.  It is from the tsunami in Japan on March 11, 2011.  There are vehicles being tossed in the massive, dirty wave that is obliterating the road as the ocean crashes over the land.  The whole picture is so sur-real it looks like someone must have digitally altered the truth.  The magazine is full of pictures like that.  It is a record of countless natural disasters that have occurred in the recent past above, on and below the earth’s crust.  I don’t usually buy magazines, but couldn’t resist getting a copy of this one.  It’s like God is handing you and me a sign.  The sign reads, “The End“.

“Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.  So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!” Matthew 24:30, 33.
