The One Who Loves You

“For God so loved the world,…” Most of us even remotely connected to Christianity can finish the verse found in John 3:16. And most likely we say we believe in Jesus, and we definitely hope we have eternal life rather than perishing.  But who is this God? And what is He like?

When Moses asked to see God’s glory, here’s what God wanted to make sure Moses knew about Himself: “I, the Lord, am a God who is full of compassion and pity, who is not easily angered and who shows great love and faithfulness. I keep my promise for thousands of generations and forgive evil and sin.” That’s how He sees Himself.

As you celebrate your relationships on Valentine’s Day, spend time thinking on the One who loves you and wants a relationship with you. He doesn’t simply want you to believe that Jesus actually exists. He wants you to trust that He is who He says He is. He is compassionate. He is slow to anger. He shows great love and faithfulness. He forgives sin – or to put it in language we understand better, He heals the relational brokenness that we’ve created.

God loves you.

And He’s a good, good Father.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
